About Jacqueline Inda-Karlsen

As a parent and someone who has had the honor of working within our public schools, I bring decades of experience building relationships and partnerships across our region. I will use those relationships to help our Board create new opportunities and strengthen initiatives that support our schools and students. The experience and decades of proven leadership have been formed by pillars.

The three pillars I will lean into are the following:

  • Learning environments → facilities, achievement, technology

  • Transparency → budgets, accountability, partnerships

  • Community → schools, cities, communication, collaboration

With the pillars of foundation set, I must create my own measurements of accountability in being the leader our students can count on.

Our children and teachers deserve learning environments where they can thrive. By investing in innovative spaces and supporting our teachers, we create the conditions for every student to reach their full potential.

We must strengthen and innovate resources for Special Education to help bring achievement gaps closer together. When we empower students with learning differences, we create greater opportunities for every student to succeed.

To meet my objectives, I have identified three measurable goals to support the pillars I hold close to my heart.

Strengthening Our Learning Enviornments

We must ensure that all our facilities meet educational standards of excellence while continuing to elevate student achievement. By building innovative partnerships and thoughtfully investing in our learning spaces, we can create environments where teachers and students thrive. As we respond to enrollment trends and emerging technologies, we have an opportunity to reimagine how our learning spaces support intentional objectives.

Building Opportunity Through Quarterly Budget Reviews

Teachers, students, families, and our community share a vested interest in strengthening our local public schools. By continuing to build partnerships and explore creative solutions, we can identify opportunities to address financial challenges while protecting what matters most: our students and public-school educators. Regular, public quarterly fiscal reviews can strengthen transparency, encourage collaboration, and help us identify new opportunities for responsible and innovative stewardship of our resources.

Reconnecting our Educational Community

The challenges of the COVID-19 era required our schools to adapt quickly. Now, we have an opportunity to build on what we learned and strengthen communication and collaboration with our feeder schools. We can also renew partnerships with our regional cities and their councils to create a more connected support system for our students and families.

Together, we can build stronger partnerships, strengthen communication, and create a more collaborative educational community.
